Night Out: Eugene Theater explores the exciting world of Eugene theater with students attending weekly performances at some of the city’s best venues (including Broadway in Eugene, Oregon Contemporary Theater, the Very Little Theater and University Theater), as well as engaging in compelling discussions about the nonprofit theater companies that define the Oregon arts scene.
Students explore the intersection of topics by taking the following course package:
UGST 109 First-Year Experience Seminar - 1-credit
TA 271 Introduction to Theater Arts - CoreEd or major satisfying course, 4-credits
Theatre has been one of the most effective means through which a society can debate issues of mutual concern, define or modify key values, and explore the potential of the human experience, and it continues to fulfill that role today. By reading and discussing plays, experimenting with aspects of design, observing performances, and writing reviews, each participant can formulate an individual awareness and appreciation of theatre arts in the world today.
PPPM 280 Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector - CoreEd or major satisfying course, 4-credits
This class will expose you to the variety of nonprofits that exist. You might think of nonprofits as just social service organizations (e.g., Food for Lane County, HIV Alliance, etc.), but there are many other types of nonprofits that touch our lives. In exposing you to nonprofits, the class will also compare and contrast the nonprofit sector to the government and business sectors.
