Hi everyone! My name is Hope Healey, and I’ll be the instructor of record for our FIG, Secret Data: The Genes Behind Your Cells. I’m really excited to teach the FIG for the first time, and introduce you to genomics, development, evolution, and paleontology. I am a Bioinformatics Lecturer for the Knight Campus Bioinformatics and Genomics Master’s Track. I am passionate about teaching students how to code, analyze biological datasets, and communicate their science. I am also particularly enthusiastic about fish, both academically and outside of work. Outside of teaching, I enjoy tending to my aquarium, baking desserts, knitting, hiking, and playing with my 3 cats.

Hi, my name is Sadie, and I’ll be the FA for Secret Data! I’m a double major in Neuroscience and Human Physiology, with minors in Chemistry and Global Health. I’m from just outside of Washington, D.C. and have loved getting to experience Oregon’s natural beauty more than anything! I love running, lifting, learning about the microscopic world of biology, and anything outdoors. I’m also a huge horror movie fan and love reading high fantasy novels! I took a gap year before starting college and solo-travelled to 17 European countries, doing a mix of long-term volunteering and short-term hostel-hopping. I love to share the resources I used to budget travel with other young people, so please feel free to ask me any questions about that, whether you’re thinking of doing a summer stint or post-college travel. I was in a FIG my first year and had a wonderful experience. I’m committed to providing the same to all my future students, too. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, FIG-specific or not!
