Seminar Instructor: Shari Schoohs
Hi y'all! My name is Shari and I am the Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) and Transfer Support at UO. I am originally from a small town in Wisconsin and moved to Oregon five years ago. As a first-generation, low-income student in my undergrad, I understand some of the many challenges transfer students face and really enjoy empowering students to get the most they can from their college experience! In addition, I am teaching this class because I wrote my master's thesis about the barriers that transfer students have to overcome, and we hope that this class and the connections from it help reduce those barriers and aid in your transfer student success! On a personal note, I love cheese, hiking, using my creativity, doing trivia, and hanging out with friends. My partner and I have two cats we call the Marvel Cats as they are both named after Marvel characters (Gambit & Nebula)! Cannot wait to meet and get to know you all :)

Peer Assistant: Jessica

Hello! I am a non-traditional student born Florida, but I have spent half of my life in New Mexico. I moved to Eugene two years ago and have been at UO for one year as a transfer student. I am majoring in Family & Human Services, and minoring in Business Administration. I love to go on walks, hit the gym, play games, and watch reality TV. I am also involved in a service org on campus, please ask me any questions about serving in the community if you share that same interest! I am super excited to build further community with you all, as I relate to several aspects of being nontraditional and a transfer student! I was in this seminar myself when I first started, and it definitely eased my transition into UO! If you have any questions about Eugene/UO, similar interests, or just navigating your own experience, please reach out to me!
