FIG Faculty: Heather Leonard

My name is Heather Leonard and I am a faculty member in the Counseling Psychology and Human Services department in the College of Education. I teach in the Family and Human Services undergraduate program and Prevention Science graduate program. I am also the program director for the Prevention Science graduate programs. My current research interests focus on adolescent health and well-being, and the role of parents in assisting teens establish healthy habits, whether physically, socially, mentally, or emotionally. In my spare time, I manage my own health by spending lots of time in nature and exploring the PNW through trail running. I look forward to working with all of you in our FIG this fall!

FIG Assistant: Laila Rouse

Hi Everyone!

My name is Laila, and I am so excited to be your FA! I am coming up on my junior year at UO, and this will be my second year as an FA! Being in a FIG my first year was one of my favorite experiences, and I hope that you all who will join one will have that same experience. A little bit about me, I am originally from Glendale, Arizona. I am majoring in psychology with a minor in dance, and I hope to go on to work in School Counseling alongside teaching dance. Dancing is among many of my hobbies which are reading, baking, shopping, and collecting vinyl records (even though my collection is small as of now)! A favorite in my collection would hands down be Harry Styles’ Fine Line Target Exclusive splatter pressing!

Words cannot begin to describe how excited I am to become an FA. Joining a FIG was one of my best decisions, and I had so much fun with not only the learning environment, but the relationships I made with others. I hope that you who join will get to experience the same thing! I want to be a support and a resource for you guys because you matter!! Please feel free to reach out whenever for help or a chat!
