FIG Instructor: John Myers

Hello! My name is John Myers. I’m an assistant teaching professor in the Psychology Department. I earned my bachelor's and master’s degrees here at UO, before earning my PhD from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where I studied the evolutionary underpinnings of close relationships. I started teaching at UO in the fall of 2022. I currently teach PSY 301 (Scientific Thinking), PSY 303 (Research Methods in Psychology), PSY 410 (Peer Lab Training), PSY 439 (Evolutionary Psychology), and PSY 473 (Intimate Relationships). I’m passionate about teaching and I firmly believe that a good education should force students to grapple with ideas that make them uncomfortable.

FIG Assistant: Tess

Hi! My name is Tess, I use she/her pronouns, and I am the FA for Friendly Disagreement. This is my first year as a FA but during my first year, I was a part of a psychology FIG and looking forward to getting to know everyone! I was born and raised in Colorado and wanted to go out of state for college, which is how I ended up at UO. I am majoring in Political Science and Planning, Public Policy and Management, and love all things nature and environment, which is why my focus is environmental policy. In my free time I love listening to music, collect vinyl records, and painting or crafts in general! I'm a big anime nerd but love tv shows, like Love Island all the way to Survivor and would love some new recommendations! I'm thrilled to be a part of this program. Please reach out with any questions and have a great summer! See you in the Fall!
