Elements of Success 2 FIG Instructor and Assistant

FIG Instructor: Kenyon Plummer

Greetings! My name is Kenyon Plummer, Math/Science Learning Specialist in the TAEC. I’ll be the instructor for the Elements of Success FIG where we will explore ideas, tools, and strategies that contribute to effective learning in STEM classes here at UO. Several pieces of my own experience have brought me to my role and teaching this class. I grew up in the south, and took a gap year before landing at UO for my graduate work in chemistry. Chemistry satisfied my deep interest in understanding our physical world, but I found each transition—to each place, to each school, other types of transitions—very challenging. I even dropped out of my graduate program for a while. With the support of friends and advisors, I successfully completed my graduate degree and identified an interest in supporting education. During grad school, I developed interests beyond chemistry in understanding how we learn and working with STEM students. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors, climbing, playing Dance Dance Revolution, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family. I look forward to working and learning together with students in the Elements of Success FIG!

FIG Assistant: Isabella

Hello! My name is Isabella and I am so excited to be your Fig assistant this year! I will be a sophomore pursuing a BS in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry on the Pre-med track! I'm originally from San Jose, California, but moved to Southern Oregon about a year ago! Eugene is in a great location with lots to do, especially if you enjoy outdoor adventures, finding great coffee, and thrifting! I'm currently involved in multiple different STEM clubs and have a research position at the Kuhl Memory Lab. Can't wait to have an amazing year, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just want to say hello!
