FIG Instructor: Louie Bottaro
Louie is the instructor of Design Your Success, and is an Academic Advisor in the College of Design. This will be his 30th fall term working in education since completing his BA in Speech Communication from Willamette University in 1993. Working as an Academic Advisor at Umpqua Community College led to his pursuit of a Masters in Education from Oregon State University. Louie has worked at UO since the summer of 2018, and this fall will teach his 11th, 12th and 13th FIGs at UO.

For his spare time, Louie coaches Pop Warner football, participates in Fantasy Football, city league softball (2023 champs!!!), an occasional pop culture podcast and following his daughter playing varsity soccer, basketball, tennis and throw the javelin. He is really looking forward to his summer trip with his family to Europe this summer with his wife, son (3rd year student at UO) and daughter. Some times he brings his dog Princess Leia to campus as well.

FIG Assistant: Ava
Hey there! I'm Ava. I was born in and raised in Beaverton, Oregon, and have lived there all my life (besides college!). In the fall, I'll be a fourth-year Architecture student, double-majoring in Ethnic Studies, with a minor in Art History. I have a great interest in affordable housing, and hope to work towards a more equitable future through community-and collaborative-based design! I LOVED this FIG freshman year, and I wanted to help pay it forward by supporting more first-year architecture students. When I'm not in studio, I work at a local bubble tea shop, and like to boulder, run, sew, play board games, hike, and spend time with my friends. I'm always out and about looking for the next fun thing - I have a great list of places to eat and fun things to do here, if you're interested! If you have questions about anything - the architecture program, college life, living in Eugene, etc, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always happy to chat with you, and I look forward to meeting you all! 🙂

FIG Assistant: Mac

Hi! My name is Mac. I’m a Junior here at UO, majoring in architecture, and am in the 5-year B-ARCH program. I am from the Bay Area and grew up on a houseboat in Sausalito. I love all things art and architecture, and I try to experience and create as much of it as possible. I look forward to exploring both with you and showing you how much this program has to offer. I hope to learn and grow alongside you, and to teach you all I have had the opportunity to discover. I like to work out, bike, and practice mixed martial arts when I have time. I love to draw and like to watch the UFC, football, and any movie with a good plot. I’m so excited to be a FIG assistant this fall and can’t wait to meet you all!
