Hello and welcome to the University of Oregon! My name is Dr. Elizabeth Skowron, and I am excited to lead this new FIG on how our bodies respond to social experiences. I’m especially excited to invite you into a bona fide psychology research lab this term, to learn some of the methods we use to study social experiences. In addition to my role as psychology professor, I am also a licensed psychologist and certified trainer in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). In my Family Biobehavioral Health Lab, we study how early adversity shapes children’s development, and how adversity also affects their parents as well. We study parenting interventions like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to understand how they prevent child abuse and support healthy outcomes for children and their families. In my free time, I love exploring Oregon and the Pacific Northwest beaches, trails, and mountains, as well as reading, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to meeting each of you this Fall!
Hi! My name is Amanda Bullock and I use she/her pronouns. I will be the FIG assistant for, For Better and Worse: How the Body Responds to Social Experience as a sophomore this upcoming fall. I am so excited to meet all of you and be involved in a program that was so rewarding to be a part of my freshman year!
A little bit about me, I am a psychology major from Rocklin California (near Sacramento) but also grew up in the Bay Area! I have absolutely loved my time so far at the University of Oregon. The school spirit, community, beautiful nature, and excellent school programs have made my time at UO so fun. Whether I am here in Oregon or home in Northern California, I love spending time outside snowboarding or hiking, exploring new cities, or going to concerts. I am also a big sports fan and love spending time with my siblings.
I cannot wait to meet you all in the Fall and support you in your transition to college! Please reach out if you have any questions about dorm living, ways to get involved, good restaurants, etc. Have a great summer and sco ducks!!
