UO Hip-Hop Jam

The UO Hip-Hop Jam is an annual event that generally takes place near the end of fall term. It is organized by the Hip-Hop & Politics of Race FIG. It began under former FIG Assistant Desmond Harvey and current FIG Faculty Prof. Loren Kajikawa in 2014 and is now gearing up for the fourth annual Jam this fall!

While the Jam is led by the FIG Assistant and FIG Faculty, it is meant to be a by-the-students, for-the-students event as FIG students play a vital role in the organization and planning of the event each year. When the Jam began in 2014, it consisted of local artists who all performed and put on a free show for an audience of about 200 people from both UO and the Eugene community at large. Over the past two years, it has continued to grow and more than doubled its attendance to about 500 people last year, when legendary California rapper Chali 2na headlined the show.
