I grew up primarily in Portland, and attended the University of Oregon for both undergraduate and graduate school. I taught Philosophy at Oregon State for a number of years before returning to Oregon about ten years ago. I am now the Senior Instructor of Philosophy and Director of Undergraduate Studies, while teaching many philosophy classes throughout the year. My interests outside of UO include film and music (especially post-punk, 1950s and ‘60s jazz, and just about anything experimental in nature). I play bass guitar and am somewhat a scholar of classical film noir.

FIG Assistant: Cass Morrison

Hi, I’m Cass and I am a second year student at the University of Oregon. I was in the Thinking Media FIG as a freshman, and am super excited to be this year’s FIG assistant! Academically, I enjoy the subjects of philosophy, sociology, and journalism, and on campus I am a part of the philosophy club as well as the fashion club. I grew up in California in the Marin County area before coming to the University of Oregon. In my free time I love to be outside and active, from surfing to snowboarding to playing just about any sport. I also like clothes and fashion, and am fascinated by the rapidly expanding role of technology and social media in our cultures. I look forward to meeting everyone in the fall!
