FIG Faculty: Randy Sullivan - Department of Chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences

Randy Sullivan is the Lecture Demonstrator and a Senior Instructor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He is also the current President of the University Senate. He says that ever since he was a kid he has been teaching anything to anybody who would sit still long enough to listen. “I love teaching chemistry because it is the science of stuff, the stuff that everything is made of. So chemistry makes us think abstractly about things that are really concrete. I mean, we are around stuff all day, every day.”

FIG Assistant: Alice Tabor

Ciao! My name is Alice Tabor and I’m so psyched to be your FIG assistant this upcoming fall! I’m a sophomore majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Italian, and I actually took the Problem with Problems FIG during my freshman year, so I’m excited to be back with Randy and working with you all!

Some facts about me: I’m originally from Louisiana but have lived outside of Houston most of my life. I love to listen to music – some of my favorite artists are Daniel Caesar, Tyler, the Creator, Khalid, and Frank Ocean – and I’m always looking for new recommendations, so feel free to send some my way! Additionally, I enjoy crocheting, reading, binging TV shows, and trying new coffee shops with my friends (it’s quite an expensive hobby).

Freshman year can be a bit daunting, especially being far away from home and on your own, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you need support in any way. Whether that’s for a campus resource, some friendly advice, or even just to talk about your favorite artist or show, I’m here for you! Looking forward to meeting y’all in the fall!
