My name is Paula Ellister and I would like to welcome you to our FIG! I am honored to be a part of your new community at the UO and excited to get to know you and to watch you form friendships with each other. Even though I grew up in California, I consider myself a proud Oregonian. Like a true Oregonian, I am at my happiest when hiking with my husband or any of my three sons.

I have a particular interest in language acquisition and in helping students discover connections to the Spanish-speaking world right here in Eugene. In this FIG we will interact with various forms of art in English, Spanish and Spanglish, created by Spanish speakers from around the world.

It is truly a privilege to work alongside our FA, April Winz, and to be a part of your journey at the UO. ¡Bienvenides a todes!

Hi everyone! My name is April, and this is my second year as a FIG assistant! I was once a part of this same FIG, though it was all online, so I am very excited to get to know you all and experience it in-person! I am going into my 4th year at UO with a major in Public Relations and a minor in Spanish. I am also a part of the SOJC honors program.

I am from Woodburn, Oregon, and I have three younger brothers. Though these past two years, I have loved calling Eugene home and experiencing everything campus has to offer. I’ve been involved with DuckTV, LGBTQA3, and as a TA for UO’s women’s self-defense program. I also work as a social media and communications coordinator for the Department of History and in the SOJC's advising office. Outside of school related things, I love exploring the nature around Eugene through hiking and paddleboarding!

I am excited to help you all with your transition to college – I know it can be intimidating. But you’re in good hands with our FIG faculty advisor, Paula Ellister, and I’m here to make the journey as comfortable as possible! ¡Bienvenides al Flock, eres un pato ahora!
