My name is Maria Licia and I would like to welcome you to our FIG!  I am from Bolivia, but I live in Eugene more than 17 years. I love Oregon, a beautiful place that now I call my home. 

I have been teaching Spanish at the University of Oregon since Fall 2012. I absolutely love teaching Spanish, and one of the most rewarding moments is when my students begin expressing themselves in Spanish and share their interests, experiences and dreams.  I believe that learning another language opens a door to a world of possibilities for personal and academic growth. 

In this FIG we will engage with various forms of art created by Spanish speakers, to find connections with the Spanish-speaking world right here in Eugene. In this beautiful city I love walking with my husband by the river, reading, swimming, exploring Oregon and writing short stories whenever I take a writing workshop. Also, I enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.  

It is truly a privilege to work alongside our FA, Oliver, and to be a part of your journey at the UO.

FIG Faculty: Paula Ellister

My name is Paula Ellister and I would like to welcome you to our FIG! I am honored to be a part of your new community at the UO and excited to get to know you and to watch you form friendships with each other. Even though I grew up in California, I consider myself a proud Oregonian. Like a true Oregonian, I am at my happiest when hiking with my husband or any of my three sons.

I have a particular interest in language acquisition and in helping students discover connections to the Spanish-speaking world right here in Eugene. In this FIG we will interact with various forms of art in English, Spanish and Spanglish, created by Spanish speakers from around the world.

It is truly a privilege to be a part of your journey at the UO. ¡Bienvenides a todes!

Hello! My name is Corinne Crabill, and I'm looking forward to being your FIG Assistant in the fall! I'm a rising third-year student pursuing a B.A in Journalism. 

I was raised in Portland, and between the Saturday markets, colorful shops, and many hiking trails around town, Eugene often feels identical to where I grew up! My time at the University of Oregon so far has been wonderful, and I'm excited to be able to spend some time with you all as you get started on your journeys here. 

In my free time I enjoy being outdoors (often in a rain jacket!), watching movies with friends, or walking around Eugene. Again, I'm excited to meet you all in the fall, and you have any questions for me or just want to talk, please send me a text or an email!
