Hip hop and the Politics of Race encourages students to situate hip hop and rap music within broader discussions of race, gender, and sexuality in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Justice Matters will critically engage the variety of philosophies that have most significantly shaped the political history of Western civilization and creatively explore how they inform U.S. politics and government.

Using language is one of the amazing feats of the human mind. This FIG explores the importance of language and other aspects of cognition in our everyday lives, and in what it means to be human. In particular we investigate the relationship between language and thought: How much does language affect how we think, and how we experience the world?
