Below is the FIG Hunters list for 2016. It gives an idea of how the FIG Hunters contest works, but this is not the list for 2017. The page will be updated before fall with the new list.

Below you will find the full list of FIG Hunters item for Fall 2016. Surprise and bonus items will be added throughout fall, which can be found on on our social media pages including Facebook and Twitter.

FIG HUNTERS:

8 Weeks to Find it All

Are you ready for the hunt? You and your FIG will be embarking on a grand adventure into the University of Oregon unknown. Capture the FIG Hunt items below in Instagram photos and earn grand prizes for you and your FIG comrades! Earn points and wow our judges during this intense, 8 week long competition and become the one FIG to rule them all! We have first and second place prizes, as well as special secret award categories, so get creative!

Rules:

All submissions must be posted to Instagram or emailed to figs@uoregon.edu
All submissions must tag @uofigs in their photo or caption in order to be eligible.
You get bonus points for completing an entire FIGHunter Category
Submissions must include the name of the FIG and the item number of the activity in the photo in the caption.
All submissions are due by Monday, November 21st 2016 before midnight.
Be safe, creative, and collegial. Most importantly, have fun!

Halloween Week

Community Building

  1. Have a water balloon fight in the rain. Bonus points if it’s with another FIG. – Photo or Video. 32 points.
  2. Create a classic Eugene tie dye shirt, or create a t-shirt for your FIG – Photo. 17 points.
  3. Plan a game event and promote it campus wide. Examples: Twister, Capture the Flag, Commando. Be creative, and the more the merrier! Bonus points if it’s with another FIG. – Photo. 42 points.
  4. Present an award or plan a surprise party for your College Connections Faculty or FA. – Photo. 50 points.
  5. FIGs are all about connections. Meet another FIG and do something nice for that group. - Photo or Video. 29 points.
  6. Make friendship bracelets and give them to all of the members of your FIG. – Photo. 45 points.
  7. Offer free compliments to people passing by the EMU. Have a sign promoting your service. – Video. 60 points.
  8. Send your parents/family a letter explain how great your FIG is. You must show the letter and then the envelope with a stamp. Photo. 82 points.
  9. Serenade your FA at karaoke night or an open mic night. – Video. 88 points.
  10. Learn the Fight Song and sing it as a round with at least four singers. –Video. 76 points.

Explore Oregon

  1. Find a list of movies filmed in Eugene. Then create an electronic scrapbook or collage with photos of members in the FIG at various locations used for filming in Eugene (including the University of Oregon.) Be sure to reference the films in the photos. Bonus points if FIG members in the photo are in costume. - Photo. 63 points.
  2. Find as many murals painted in Eugene as you can. Create a photo collage or electronic scrapbook of the pictures you take. – Photo. 50 points.
  3. Attend a concert with other FIG members at one of the following locations: Beall Hall, WOW Hall, The Boreal, Wandering Goat Coffee, MacDonald Theatre, Cozmic Pizza, HiFi Music Hall, or literally, anywhere else!. – Photo. 38 points.
  4. Take a picture of you and your FIG inside the “O” on top of Skinner’s Butte. – Photo. 52 points.
  5. Take a ride on the EMX and get the passengers to sing the Wheels on the Bus. – Video. 19 points.
  6. Stop and smell the flowers while visiting the Owen Rose Garden or Hendricks Park here in Eugene. Bonus points if you have a classical picnic while in the gardens. –Photo. 50 points
  7. Visit the Cascade Raptor Center and capture a photograph of your group in the large nest. Bonus points if dressed like a bird nesting and/or you bring your own eggs. – Photo. 45 points.
  8. Attend EUCON (Eugene’s own Comic-Con) and get a photo with your favorite character (Bonus points if you go in costume). – Photo. 67 points.
  9. Take a step back in time and visit the Shelton-McMurphy house. Take a picture with your tour guide or house official. Bonus points if dressed in period garb. –Photo. 47 points.
  10. Go on a trip with the Outdoor Program at UO- Photo. 106 points.
  11. Play a game of pinball at Level Up Arcade – Photo. 53 Points.
  12. Attend a comedy event either on campus or in the Eugene community. – Photo. 47 points.
  13. Get a picture of you with the Duck holding a sign with the name of your FIG. - Photo. 76 points.

Campus Connections

  1. Attend an International Coffee Hour in the Mills International Lounge. Take a photo with someone new whom you’ve met during the coffee hour. – Photo. 20 points.
  2. Visit/take a tour of the museums located on the UO campus and create a photo collage of your experience. – Photo. 30 points.
  3. Attend a UO sporting event with members of your FIG. Hold up signs with random positive messages NOT related to the game you are attending. – Photo. 79 points.
  4. Attend all fall sports as a FIG (except football because tickets are more difficult to come by). Make a collage of your FIG at all of these events. Bonus points if you take a picture with The Duck. –Photo. 487 points
  5. Submit a collage of pictures of you and FIG members in front of all UO Libraries on the Eugene campus. Photo. 64 points.
  6. Buy a joke book from Frog. Have him sign it and write a note to your FA. Photo. 57 points.
  7. Create a map of the fastest route connecting all of the classes in your FIG. –Photo. 42 points.
  8. Take part in one of the Craft Center events or classes. Take a picture of yourself with your creation. -Photo. 65 points.
  9. Attend a theater production on campus at any theater. Bonus points if you get a photo with FA Ben Jones. – Photo. 73 points.
  10. Attend a Group X ‘Freebie Friday’ class at the REC. Bonus points if done in your best 80s workout gear. –Photo. 20 pts for regularly clothed. 100 points if in 80s gear.
  11.  Take a photo by your favorite campus food cart- Photo. 32 points.
  12. Attend the third annual UO Hip-Hop Jam. Bonus points if you find FA Timmy Thomas. – Photo. 88 points.

Get Creative

  1. Perform a play on the quad. Bonus points if it is Shakespeare. – Video. 70 points.
  2. Create a FIG rock band album cover photo. Include the title of the album. – Photo. 49 points.
  3. Create a children’s pop-up book based on your FIG theme. Record someone from the FIG telling the story. – Video. 67 points.
  4. Create a zoetrope of Puddles the Duck catching a Frisbee, or of a wizard riding a tortoise. Whichever you prefer. Must bring Zoetrope to the FIG offices for full points. –Photo. 47 points.
  5. 2016 election seasons mean way too many political ads. Give us a break from the typical ad and create your own ‘spoof’ of an ad as if you were going to be a candidate for presidency. –Video. 56 points.
  6. Pick a theme and recreate a “Brady Bunch” style photo grid.  Bonus points if you pick a theme from your FIG. – Photo. 85 points.
  7. Create vegetable art. Bonus points if you get the veggies from the Farmer’s Market. Document the purchase through photos. – Photo. 22 points.
  8. Describe your FIG to the public through interpretative dance, flash mob dance, or a song. – Video. 60 points.
  9. Pizza can be a college staple. Add some pizazz to your next pizza by depicting a famous Italian landmark using toppings. –Photo. 36 points.
  10. Create an “Unsolved Mysteries” style video on the suspicious disappearance of Roboduck. – Video. 96 points.
  11.  Create a mosaic out of recyclables in the shape of a FIG leaf. – Photo. 19 points
  12.  Get a barista to design a FIG leaf in your next latte. – Photo. 11 points.
  13.  Attempt a project on Pinterest. Bonus points if it is an epic fail and/or you connect it with the First-Year Programs Pinterest Page. – Photo or Video. 43 points.
  14. Create your own FIG comic strip detailing the adventures of your FA and faculty member. – Photo. 45 points.
  15. Have a rubber duck race in a puddle. Show fierce competition amongst patrons rooting for their duck. – Photo. 24 points.

Serve the Community

  1. Volunteer in the community as a group and document your service – Photo or video. 54 points.
  2. Donate blood during the Civil War Blood Drive. – Photo. 94 points.
  3. Participate in Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Photo or video. 78 points.
  4. Many local schools are in need of materials for arts and music. Organize a fundraiser or donation drive to buy supplies, then donate them to one of Eugene’s local public schools. Take a picture of you or your group donating the supplies to the school, featuring a teacher or administrator. –Photo. 82 points.
  5. Have members of your FIG get First-Aid and CPR certified. – Photo. 27 points for each member.
  6. The holidays are a time of giving. Celebrate thanksgiving as a FIG by giving food to others (volunteer at a food bank, collect canned food for the student food pantry, etc.) – Photo. 99 points.
  7. Post positive, upbeat messages in a public place (where it is legal and not permanently marking a space). Jokes, compliments, inspirational quotes—all are acceptable. –Photo. 29 points.
  8. Bring a yummy snack to a staff member at SafeRide or DDS during their night shift- Photo. 48 points.
  9. Volunteer as a group at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum helping to garden, clean up, and otherwise spruce up the gardens. Bonus points if there’s more than one FIG involved. –Photo 76 points

Halloween Week

  1. Visit a local pumpkin patch and re-create a scene from It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. – Photo. 31 points.
  2. Host a pumpkin carving party. Bonus points if the pumpkin designs represent your FIG. – Photo. 113 points.
  3. Learn about local urban legends and then pick a night to go ghost hunting. Bonus points if you capture a ghost on film. – Video. 313points.
  4. Host a midnight tea party. – Photo. 13 points.
  5. Create a PSA (Public Service Announcement) to show people how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse. – Video. 313 points.
  6. Recreate the iconic Thriller Video. Bonus points for taking your own spin/interpretation, remixing the music, etc. – Video. 313 points.
  7. Hand out candy to trick-or-treaters in full costume. Bonus points if costume relate to FIG theme. – Photo. 31 points.
  8.  Attend the infamous Hamilton Haunted House. – Photo. 13 points
  9.  Bounce at the trampoline park in your craziest costume. - Photo. 131 points.
  10. Host a movie night and watch your favorite Halloween movies from childhood. Bonus points for watching Halloween Town or Hocus Pocus. –Photo.
  11. 11. Make a campus version of the Harry Potter Marauder’s Map. –Photo. 31 points.
