Academic Advising

FIGs collaborate with the Office of Academic Advising to help students get the information that is crucial to their academic planning success. Each FIG includes a lesson on understanding general education requirements and navigating degree audits in order to help students understand their academic path toward graduation. Each student creates a two- or four-year plan in order to explain how they will move on from their first term to meet the requirements. This helps them start thinking about other opportunities they'd like to explore in their career at the university, including study abroad, internships, adding extra majors or minors, etc.
